How to Play Baccarat

Online casino baccarat plays out precisely the same as the version you will find at land-based casinos. Simply take your seat at what resembles an online blackjack table and place your bets on which position you think will win - the Banker, the Player or whether it will be a Draw.

The aim of the game is to have a hand closest to the value of 9 after the cards have been dealt. An 8 or a 9 is referred to as a natural and is an instant win (9 beats 8, though).

Two cards are dealt to each position, and the values are totalled up. All number cards are their assigned value, except 10, which is worth zero. All face cards are also worth zero.

So a hand with a 7 and a 3 would be worth 10 points. A hand with a four and a jack would be worth 4.

In some cases, a third card is dealt. For the Player position, this only happens if the hand value after two cards is 0-5 unless the Banker position has already won with a natural.

When the Banker position draws another card is a bit more complicated. If the Player draws no third card, the Banker draws with a total of 0-5 and doesn't with a hand total of 6 or 7. All other hands are dependent on the third card the Player draws:

• If the Player's third card is 9, 10, face-card or Ace, Banker draws on 0-3 and stays with a 4-7.
• If the Player's third card is 8, Banker draws when on 0-2 and stays with a 3-7.
• If the Player's third card is 6 or 7, Banker draws on 0-6 and stays with a 7.
• If the Player's third card is 4 or 5, Banker draws on 0-5 and stays with a 6-7.
• If the Player's third card is 2 or 3, Banker draws on 0-4 and stays with a 5-7.

It seems a little tricky but remember, all gameplay is automatic, and you don't need to do anything.
